Darjeeling is known for its magnificent landscapes, mountain range and hiking trails. And one of the best things to do while in Darjeeling is to set yourself and your family to hiking trips around th
The walk stats from Chow Rasta, the famous spot at the Observatory hill. We take the Tenzing Norgay road (also known as Toong Soong ) road which is free of motor traffic and leads through villages of Toong Soong and Aloobari. In Aloobari we vist the Yolmowa Mak Dhog Monastery which was built in the year 1914. The name Mak Dhog which means warding off the war, was given to the monastery to symbolize world peace. After a walking distance of 6 Kms. the road finally meets with the Hill Cart Road at Jore Bungalow. From here, Tiger Hill is a 5km ascend up to the top and takes about 2.5 hours to trek uphill.
Sunset view from Tiger hill is as beautiful as the sun rises over the snow caped mountain range of the eastern Himalaya. As such, we hike up to the summit of the hill before the dusk and enjoy the scenery as it unfolds.
Next morning we wake up with the break of the early sun rays and rejoice the magical moments when Mt. Kanchenjunga changes her shades from golden to silver as the day grows.
After breakfast we hike downhill to Jore Bunglow. Form here we opt to walk back through alternate road tail, Gandhi road which windes parallel to the main Hill Cart road and offers a pleasant view of the Darjeeling town.
